NFC North power rankings: Packers still on top after 2020 NFL Draft?
2. Minnesota Vikings
Similarly, the Minnesota Vikings have also put together a strong offseason, which is exactly what they need to build on last year’s trip to the divisional round.
We’ll start with the players the Vikings have lost. And this needs to be factored in. Star wide receiver Stefon Diggs was traded to the Buffalo Bills, which I’m sure the Packers are delighted to see considering the success Diggs had against them over the years. The Vikings also lost Everson Griffen and Linval Joseph.
However, the Vikings did a good job of addressing their biggest needs. With help needed along the defensive line, they signed former Raven Michael Pierce, an excellent run defender. Following Diggs’ departure, they drafted potential star Justin Jefferson, a wide receiver many Packers fans were hoping would fall to No. 30 overall.
Cornerback Jeff Gladney could be an upgrade on Xavier Rhodes, who struggled in 2019, while Ezra Cleveland has the potential to be a starting tackle. The Vikings had a total of 15 picks in the draft, increasing their odds of finding a few impact starters.
Of course, as a Packers fan I’m hoping to be wrong with this, but on paper, it looks like the Vikings have put together an impressive offseason.
