Packers legend Jordy Nelson makes PFF All-Decade Top 101
Jordy Nelson helped the Green Bay Packers dominate throughout the 2010s, and he’s made Pro Football Focus’ All-Decade Top 101 as a result.
Oh, how the Green Bay Packers could use Jordy Nelson in his prime right about now.
When we look back on Aaron Rodgers‘ Hall-of-Fame career years from now, we won’t be able to not also think about Nelson’s role. He was Rodgers’ favorite target for many years. When these two got on the same page, they were almost impossible to stop.
From the famous back-shoulder throw to the deep shot off of play-action, the Rodgers-to-Nelson connection was one of the most dominant in the NFL.
Rodgers’ incredible accuracy played a huge role but equally as important was the fact Nelson was an elite wide receiver, and often underrated.
Pro Football Focus has put together an All-Decade Top 101, ranking the best players from the 2010s. They are yet to reveal the top 49 players in the list, but so far, three former and current Packers are included.
Nelson comes in at No. 69 in the rankings. Guard Josh Sitton is one position higher at No. 68, and the Packers’ current left tackle David Bakhtiari comes in at No. 84.
In nine seasons with the Packers, Nelson put up 7,848 receiving yards and 69 touchdowns. The vast majority of that (7,162 yards and 65 touchdowns) came in the 2010s.
For his role in many dominant Packers offenses over the decade, Nelson deservedly makes the top 101 rankings by PFF.
Nelson, Sitton, and Bakhtiari likely won’t be the only Packers on the list. Rodgers will certainly be near the top. So will Julius Peppers. Clay Matthews deserves to be in the top 50 also. You can also make a strong case for Davante Adams and Charles Woodson.
Which Packers — either current or former players — do you think should make the top 50 of PFF’s rankings?
