3. Mike Daniels

It was a huge surprise when the Pack cut defensive lineman Mike Daniels last season. He was seen as the vocal leader of the defense. He brought a nasty attitude that you love to see out of a defensive lineman. When he was cut, a lot of Packers fans were upset because it seemed like he would still be a big part of the Packers’ defense.

He ended up staying in the division when he signed with the Detroit Lions. He appeared in just nine games in an injury-plagued season. Afterward, he became a free agent again. He is still available and clearly wants to play. He has been posting workout videos nonstop. He has also been active on Twitter, interacting with fans and also appearing on ESPN Radio’s Wilde and Tausch. In his interview, he really sounded like he thought a reunion with the Packers could work.

Right now, the general consensus is that the Packers need help with their run defense. Recency bias plays a big part in this after the 49ers ran all over them in the NFC Championship game. Green Bay also didn’t really go out of their way to sure up the defensive line in the NFL Draft or in free agency up to this point. A Mike Daniels reunion seems to make sense and would make a lot of fans happy.
