The Packers secondary should be a strength on defense this season. I have them going with six cornerbacks and four safeties on the 53-man roster.
Let’s start at cornerback.
Jaire Alexander and Kevin King are the two outside starters. Alexander is an ascending player who is entering his third year in Green Bay. This could be a breakout, Pro Bowl-level season for Alexander. King will be playing for a new contract as he enters the final year on his current deal. He made a big impact in 2019 with a team-best five interceptions.
Chandon Sullivan looks set to replace Tramon Williams in the slot. Josh Jackson, Ka’dar Hollman, and rookie Stanford Samuels provide the cornerback depth.
The Packers’ starting safety tandem remains unchanged with Adrian Amos and Darnell Savage. I expect a second-year jump from Savage, who the Packers traded up to get in the first round in 2019. If Savage spends any time at slot corner, Raven Greene could get more snaps. Greene has been a solid player in the secondary when healthy. With Ibraheim Campbell gone, rookie Vernon Scott makes the roster as the fourth safety.
With the talent on this roster, the Packers should be ready for another playoff push in 2020.
