2. Jaire Alexander leads the NFC in interceptions

Jaire Alexander took a big step forwards in his second season. After an impressive rookie year, Alexander became a real difference-maker for the Packers defense in 2019. In year three, he can take the next step and become a shutdown cornerback.

There are two things he needs to do to become one of the best at his position. The first is to become more consistent. That should come with experience. The second is to force more turnovers. Again, there’s good reason to believe this will happen.

Alexander is a playmaker. He intercepted two passes and also forced a fumble when he simply took the football out of Noah Fant’s hands. Alexander attacks the football and creates opportunities for turnovers. But he didn’t always make the most of those chances last season. According to Pro Football Focus, Alexander’s four dropped interceptions tied for the most in the NFL.

That shows he was in position to make four other interceptions last season. I predict he’ll make those opportunities count this year and will lead the NFC in interceptions. This could be Alexander’s breakout season for the Packers, and creating more turnovers could help him become one of the best cornerbacks in the league.
