Packers: 3 early free agency targets in 2021 offseason
1. WR Keenan Allen
But if the Packers are to sign a wide receiver in free agency next year, there might not be a better scenario than Keenan Allen coming to Green Bay. With Allen and Adams, the Packers would have arguably the NFL’s top two route-runners on the same team.
Allen is absolutely dominant in the slot. His release and route-running ability is up there with the best in the game. He was unfairly called injury-prone after a couple of unlucky injuries earlier in his career, but he’s put those concerns away having not missed a game since 2016. Allen has now put up three-straight 1,000-yard seasons with 18 touchdowns since the start of 2017.
According to Pro Football Focus, of the catchable passes thrown his way in his career, he’s caught 90 percent of them.
Despite making the Pro Bowl three years in a row, Allen is incredibly underrated and should be considered one of the best receivers in the game. He’ll turn 29 next offseason and the Packers would need to be willing to give Allen a big contract, but he’s worth it.
If Allen hits free agency and the Packers were to sign him, we’d be looking at an unstoppable wide receiver tandem featuring two of the best route-runners in the NFL.
