It’s been an unusual offseason for the Green Bay Packers, and every other team in the NFL, as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. But it’s July, which means training camp is almost here. And as things stand, camp should go ahead on time.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said that training camp is set to begin on time. Things could change in the coming weeks, but that’s the plan as it stands.

But even if training camp does go ahead as planned, it will almost certainly be different from normal. Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports wrote about the possibility of preseason being shortened or scrapped completely, which could also result in reduced rosters from 90 players to 70 or 75.

It’s also hard to imagine a scenario in which fans could attend training camp. So the entire summer will continue to be different from normal as the Packers prepare for an uncertain season.

However, if training camp begins on schedule, the Packers will be making decisions for the 2020 season. Who makes the roster? Which players will start? And if the preseason is scrapped, the practices at camp will be all the more important.
