Three players the Packers should consider trading before Week 1.

Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst has proven throughout his time in the job that he isn’t afraid to make some tough decisions. Occasionally, that can mean trading away talented players on the roster.

Back in 2018, Gutekunst traded away former All-Pro safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, as well as running back Ty Montgomery. Gutekunst has also shown a willingness to be aggressive in trades, as he’s proven by moving up in the first round of each of his three drafts so far.

Trading away talented players can, of course, prove to be a mistake. After all, if another team is willing to trade for them, there’s clearly a reason for doing so. If you don’t get enough in return or waste any draft picks sent your way, it can be a mistake.

But trading away talented players can work out for both teams involved. The team trading for the player gets some help at a position of need, while the other team can receive future draft picks, save salary cap room, or even receive players to help their roster at an area of need.

Ahead of the start of the 2020 season, here’s a look at three players the Packers should consider trading.
