Three reasons why the Packers should sign Everson Griffen.

The Green Bay Packers are in the mix to sign free agent defensive end Everson Griffen.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on Monday that there’s mutual interest between the Packers and Griffen, while the Minnesota Vikings are also interested in re-signing the Pro Bowl pass rusher.

Is Griffen’s agent using the Packers to help get a better contract with the Vikings? Who knows? But if there is mutual interest between the Packers and Griffen, it’s a deal that would make sense for all involved. For Griffen, he’d get the chance to help the Packers push for a Super Bowl. He could be a difference-maker in Green Bay’s defense. For the Packers, they’d be strengthening their defense.

Griffen was a fourth-round pick by the Vikings in the 2010 NFL Draft. Since then, he’s been to four Pro Bowls and was a second-team All-Pro in 2017.

Griffen will make any defense better, no matter where he ends up signing. But the possibility of him playing in Green Bay is an exciting one, and it’s a move Gutekunst should do everything he can to make happen.

Gutekunst is always looking for ways to improve the roster. Griffen would certainly do that. Here are three reasons why the Packers should sign him.
