Packers 53-man roster predictions as training camp gets underway.

Training camp is here for the Green Bay Packers. After an uncertain offseason due to the coronavirus pandemic, training camp is set to begin following an agreement on the regulations between the NFL and NFLPA.

One of the changes to normal is that there will be no preseason. Rosters will also be trimmed to 80 players instead of the usual 90, which the Packers will be doing in the coming weeks. It will then, of course, be cut down to 53 players ahead of the 2020 season.

Something I had to consider when putting together my 53-man roster predictions is that practice squads have been increased to 16 players for this season, giving teams more flexibility to keep players who don’t quite make the initial 53.

After a very different offseason to normal, the Packers will be back on the practice field soon beginning their preparations for the new season.

Ahead of training camp getting underway, here are my 53-man roster predictions. We’ll start with special teams.

Special teams (3) – 3/53

Mason Crosby (K), JK Scott (P), Hunter Bradley (LS)

No real surprises here. Mason Crosby is still one of the NFL’s most reliable kickers. JK Scott could come under pressure if he doesn’t become more consistent, but he’s played well enough to deserve a spot on the 53. And with Hunter Bradley at long snapper, the Packers maintain continuity on special teams.
