Nickel corner

The Packers are set at the starting positions at cornerback. Emerging star Jaire Alexander and Kevin King will be the starters. But, just as important as those two is the nickel corner.

Nickel is pretty much a starting position in today’s NFL. Base defenses have gone the way of five defensive backs and not four.

Tramon Williams filled that role for the 2019 season but is not currently on the roster. While he’s still available and will probably come cheap, it seems the team would rather see what they have in the younger guys before bringing him back.

The Packers have some intriguing options to look at. Josh Jackson will enter a pivotal camp as this will be his third and he has yet to distinguish himself after a very successful career at Iowa.

As a second-round pick, I would think he’ll get every chance to win that job in camp.

Chandon Sullivan is another enticing option. Sullivan played extensively last year and may actually be the frontrunner entering camp.

The Packers also have 2019 sixth-round pick Ka’dar Hollman. Hollman had a strong 2019 preseason ensuring he made the regular season roster but only played in four games and did not register a stat as he played mostly on special teams.

Hollman has the size and speed of an NFL corner and will give Sullivan and Jackson all they can handle for that third corner spot.
