Packers: 5 realistic trade targets at wide receiver in 2020
Dede Westbrook, Jacksonville Jaguars
Similarly, the Jacksonville Jaguars are another team that could struggle in 2020, and their focus could turn to next year’s draft and a potential change at quarterback. Where could that leave wide receiver Dede Westbrook, who will be a free agent next offseason?
If the Jaguars are looking to add draft picks, and the Packers need a wide receiver, perhaps a trade could be made.
Westbrook, selected in the fourth round by the Jaguars in the 2017 NFL Draft, is a talented receiver and could help the Packers offense improve. Westbrook has 1,377 receiving yards and eight touchdowns over the past two seasons.
You’ll notice a theme here. Westbrook is in the final year of his contract and has a low cap hit in 2020. According to Spotrac, Westbrook’s cap hit this season is $2.30 million.
While the Packers didn’t draft a receiver, they could still add talent at the position in the near future. There will be competition for snaps with a number of young receivers currently on the roster, but if there is a lack of consistency behind Davante Adams as we saw last season, don’t be surprised if Brian Gutekunst looks to make a move. But with limited cap room available, he’ll need to be smart.
