Packers: Two NFC North players opt out of 2020 season due to COVID-19
Two NFC North players have opted out of the 2020 season due to COVID-19.
A number of players around the NFL have opted out of the 2020 season as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. This will have an impact on every team in the league, including the Green Bay Packers.
So far, no Packers players have opted out of the season, but two players from the NFC North have.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Minnesota Vikings defensive tackle Michael Pierce has opted out of the 2020 season. Rapoport also reported that Chicago Bears defensive tackle Eddie Goldman has also opted out of the season.
From a football perspective, this will have an impact on the NFC North. Pierce was one of the Vikings’ top free agency additions after losing Linval Joseph, while Goldman is a key part of the Bears defense.
Many players across the league have opted out for the 2020 season. A number of New England Patriots players have opted out, including Patrick Chung, Dont’a Hightower, and former Packer Danny Vitale. Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Marquise Goodwin has also opted out.
