The five toughest WR matchups the Packers will face this year.

The Green Bay Packers‘ pass defense will need to hold its own against some of the best wide receivers in the league this year.

But what will be the toughest five WR matchups for the Packers in 2020?

Two star receivers who just missed out on the top five will take on the Packers twice this year: Kenny Golladay and Adam Thielen. You could make a case for either player being included in the top five.

5. A.J. Brown, Tennessee Titans

Selected to the PFWA All-Rookie Team in 2019, Titans receiver A.J. Brown had a breakout first season in the NFL, catching 52 passes for 1,051 yards and eight touchdowns, averaging an incredible 20.2 yards per reception.

Brown is well on his way to becoming one of the best receivers in the league. The Packers already have to worry about Derrick Henry when they meet the Titans, but covering Brown will be another tough challenge.

4. Mike Evans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Mike Evans has put up over 1,000 yards receiving in each of the six seasons he’s played in the NFL. Now he gets the benefit of Tom Brady throwing the ball his way. At 6-foot-5, Evans is dominant in the red zone and has 48 touchdown catches in six years.

3. Chris Godwin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Incredibly, the Bucs have two receivers in the top five. Evans’ teammate Chris Godwin is coming off a breakout season. Godwin led the team in receiving with 1,333 yards and nine touchdowns. The 24-year-old receiver was named a second-team All-Pro and voted to the Pro Bowl for the first time.

2. Michael Thomas, New Orleans Saints

No WR has caught more passes in a single season than Michael Thomas. Last year, Thomas caught a record 149 passes for 1,725 yards and nine touchdowns, averaging 107.8 yards per game.

Thomas was named NFL Offensive Player of the Year in 2019, and he’s led the NFL in receptions the past two seasons and was the receiving yards leader last year. The two-time All-Pro and three-time Pro Bowler will give either Jaire Alexander or Kevin King one of their toughest matchups of the season.

1. Julio Jones, Atlanta Falcons

Julio Jones has dominated against the Packers over the years. Jones has 698 yards and five touchdowns against the Packers.

A seven-time Pro Bowler, a five-time All-Pro, and twice the NFL leader in receiving yards, Jones is still one of the best wide receivers in the league.
