Packers: 5 players who can replace Devin Funchess in 2020
Equanimeous St. Brown
Funchess might’ve been the Packers’ only offseason addition at wide receiver, but in many ways, Equainimeous St. Brown also is. The third-year pass-catcher missed all of last season due to injury, so we never got to see him line up in Matt LaFleur’s offense. Not to mention he was a backup receiver in his rookie season.
What kind of impact can EQ make in 2020?
Well, there’s no doubt he is a talented player. We saw plenty of signs of that in his first year. From making tough catches to picking up yards after the catch, there were many times in 2018 when St. Brown would make a great play that showed the potential he has.
The key for EQ is to put it all together this season and do it consistently. That will become easier with the more reps he gets with Aaron Rodgers. Unlike two years ago, Randall Cobb and Geronimo Allison are no longer on the roster, and St. Brown also is a returning player. That should lead to more snaps with Rodgers in training camp, and that could be crucial.
It’s difficult to predict what to expect from St. Brown this year, which comes as a result of missing the entire 2019 season. With a breakout season, EQ could become the number two receiver in Matt LaFleur’s offense.
