3. Lane Taylor wins right guard job

One of the biggest training camp battles of the summer will come along the right side of the offensive line. At right guard, it’ll likely come down to Billy Turner, who started all 16 games at right guard last season, and Lane Taylor, who was the Week 1 starter at left guard.

With Elgton Jenkins now the starter at left guard, Taylor will compete with Turner for the other guard spot. Before last season, Taylor was a reliable starter at left guard for the Packers and had replaced Josh Sitton back in 2016.

Taylor is talented enough to be a starter at one of the guard spots. And my prediction is that he’ll be the starting right guard in Week 1.

4. Packers sign a cornerback before Week 1

One area of concern is at cornerback. The Packers are banking on a young, inexperienced group behind starters Kevin King and Jaire Alexander. If Chandon Sullivan is ready to take on a bigger role, Josh Jackson improves, and Ka’dar Hollman makes a second-year jump, the Packers will have no concerns at cornerbacks.

But that’s a lot of “ifs”. It could also go the other way, leading to the Packers signing a veteran before the start of the season. Fortunately, Tramon Williams is still available.
