Three pleasant surprises for the Packers at training camp after one week of practice.

It’s been almost a week since the Green Bay Packers practiced for the first time at training camp. Head coach Matt LaFleur will have already learned a lot about his players ahead of the regular season, which begins in just over three weeks.

With a shorter amount of time available for practice than usual, and with no preseason, the Packers need to make the most of every session available to them. For players on the roster bubble, that means stepping up and making plays whenever they get a chance to impress. Especially with no preseason this month, every practice rep counts.

In just a couple of weeks, the Packers will need to trim their roster from 80 players to 53, which will be the roster for the start of the regular season. General manager Brian Gutekunst and head coach Matt LaFleur will have some difficult decisions to make in the coming weeks. And with not long to go before the start of the season, it’s almost time to determine which players make the initial 53-man roster.

As ever, there have been standout performers at training camp and also players who weren’t expected to make the roster now making a strong case.
