Packers final 53-man roster predictions ahead of 2020 season
Secondary (11) – 53/53
CB: Jaire Alexander, Kevin King, Chandon Sullivan, Josh Jackson, Ka’dar Hollman, Stanford Samuels
S: Adrian Amos, Darnell Savage, Raven Greene, Will Redmond, Vernon Scott
Looking at the Packers’ best starting lineup, it’s hard not to be impressed with the secondary. With Jaire Alexander and Kevin King at outside cornerback, and Adrian Amos and Darnell Savage at safety, this group can be as good as any around the league. Chandon Sullivan is a talented player and can replace Tramon Williams in the slot.
Where there is concern is with the depth at cornerback. Josh Jackson has made some good plays at training camp, but many reporters have noted that he remains inconsistent. This is a big season for Jackson and as potentially the fourth cornerback on the roster, the Packers need him to step up.
The Packers do have strong depth at safety. Raven Greene could have a big role to play, especially now that Kamal Martin is out for a while with injury. Mike Pettine could go with an additional safety and Greene is perfect for that role. Greene is currently dealing with an injury, too, so hopefully he’ll be ready to go in Week 1.
Will Redmond adds good depth and also plays a lot of snaps on special teams, while rookie Vernon Scott offers versatility. After making some plays in training camp, he may force the Packers to keep five safeties.
