The Packers will be without Kenny Clark in Week 2.

Unsurprisingly, the Green Bay Packers will be without star defensive tackle Kenny Clark in Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions.

It seemed Clark was unlikely to play after missing practice on both Wednesday and Thursday. According to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky, head coach Matt LaFleur has confirmed that Clark won’t play this week.

This was always the number one concern for the defensive line after the team didn’t make any notable changes at the position in the offseason. Even with a healthy Clark, they needed other defensive tackles on the roster to step up. Now without Clark for the time being, the pressure is on the others to play well.

There wasn’t much sign of any improvement to the run defense last week. The Vikings do have one of the best rushing attacks in the NFL, but it’s still concerning to see the Packers give up 134 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

On Sunday, they’ll face Adrian Peterson, who impressed on his Lions debut with 93 yards from only 14 attempts. Peterson has to be key to the Lions’ game plan this weekend, given the injury to Clark and Green Bay’s struggles to stop the run. Not to mention that the Lions could be without star wide receiver Kenny Golladay, who is still recovering from a hamstring injury.

The full injury report will be released later today, which is when the team will announce the game status for each player ahead of Sunday’s matchup.

Another player whose status is uncertain for this week’s game is rookie tight end Josiah Deguara. He was a limited participant at practice on Wednesday due to a shin injury, but then didn’t practice on Thursday with an ankle injury being added to the injury report. Hopefully, the rookie will be ready to go in Week 2.
