Packers WR Davante Adams won’t practice on Wednesday, but it’s not necessarily a bad sign for Week 3.

Davante Adams exited the Green Bay Packers‘ win over the Detroit Lions on Sunday with a hamstring injury and wouldn’t return.

Unsurprisingly, head coach Matt LaFleur said that Adams will likely be held out of practice today.

There is some good news, however. Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported earlier this week that Adams’ injury is “considered minor”, which is a huge relief for the Packers.

While it’s possible the Packers will also hold him out of Sunday’s game, we shouldn’t jump to that conclusion just yet even with him missing practice on Wednesday.

First of all, it’s early in the week. LaFleur needs to weigh up the risks versus the rewards when it comes to practice this week. Adams is experienced and talented enough to play well at the weekend even if he doesn’t practice or is limited through the week.

Only three days after suffering the injury, it makes sense to take it easy and give Adams plenty of time to rest and recover. Overworking too soon while dealing with a hamstring injury can be risky. It’s easy to make the injury worse, which the Packers absolutely don’t want.

Of course, the fact Adams has to sit out of practice is far from ideal ahead of such an important game this weekend. The Packers tend to be cautious when it comes to bringing players back from injury, and understandably so, and we should expect the same with Adams.

Like with practice, there’s a risk-reward when it comes to Adams’ status for the weekend. If his hamstring is anything below 100 percent, he shouldn’t play. The Packers are 2-0 and have a long season ahead.

However, as his injury is considered minor, it’s entirely possible a week of recovery will be enough for Adams to get healthy. Time will tell.

Adams’ status for Sunday will be something to watch through the week. Not practicing on Wednesday doesn’t tell us too much. While his status is uncertain for the weekend, we shouldn’t rule him out just yet as it’s early in the week.
