Packers: Five players key to victory in Week 3 vs. Saints
By Jesse Fry
The Packers need these five players to step up in Week 3.
The Green Bay Packers are 2-0 and riding an offensive wave heading into Week 3. Matt LaFleur’s team has but up a total of 85 points in the first two weeks of 2020 and will likely need more of the same in Sunday night’s showdown against the New Orleans Saints.
Green Bay will travel to New Orleans, a place they have not fared well at, to play Drew Brees and the Saints.
The Saints are banged up and coming off a loss on Monday night against the Las Vegas Raiders. Michael Thomas will likely be out with a high-ankle sprain and the player the Saints traded with the Packers to get, Marcus Davenport, will also likely miss his third straight game.
Despite the injuries, this is still a very dangerous Saints team. Fully healthy is New Orleans’ two-headed monster at running back in Alvin Kamara and Latavius Murray.
Despite a down performance on Monday against the Raiders, Drew Brees is still Drew Brees and capable of putting up insane numbers through the air in the passing game.
Good teams ensure they do not lose two weeks in a row. Sean Payton will have his players primed and ready to redeem themselves after their less-than-stellar showing.
The Packers will catch a break as the Saints will not get a boost from fans this Sunday. This game was thought to be the first game the team would allow fans but the team, in accordance with the city, decided this is not the week.
That could benefit the Packers as one of the major hurdles for visitors in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome is the crowd noise.
Aaron Rodgers has yet to win in New Orleans. In order for that to change, these five players will need to play to their fullest potential.
