Packers hit with injuries ahead of Week 3 showdown with Saints
The Packers could be without a few key players in Week 3.
Ahead of a huge NFC matchup with the New Orleans Saints, the Green Bay Packers could be without a number of key players on both sides of the ball.
As expected, wide receiver Davante Adams isn’t expected to play. He is listed as doubtful to play on the Packers’ injury report after missing practice all week with a hamstring injury. It’s probably the smart decision. Yes, it’s a big game, but it’s important not to risk losing Adams for any longer, especially so early in the season.
Rookie tight end Josiah Deguara made an impact on debut against the Minnesota Vikings but looks set to miss his second game due to shin and ankle injuries. Deguara is doubtful to play in Week 3. Linebacker Randy Ramsey is also doubtful.
Defensive tackle Kenny Clark could return to action after recovering from a groin injury, but his status remains up in the air. Clark returned to practice on Thursday and has been a limited participant the past two days, but he’s questionable to play.
More bad news is that star offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins has been added to the injury report on Friday, which is never ideal. He didn’t practice today and is questionable for Sunday night’s game due to back and rib injuries. With Lane Taylor already out for the season, the Packers don’t want to be without their star guard against the Saints.
There is some good news, however. Center Corey Linsley is good to go after practicing fully all week. He was dealing with a thumb injury which was a worry as he snaps the ball to Aaron Rodgers. Guard/tackle Billy Turner also practiced fully all week and is healthy.
Hopefully, Clark and Jenkins will be active, but it looks like Adams will miss Week 3.
