1. Allen Lazard

Stat line: 6 catches, 146 yards, 1 TD

When you are down your number one receiver, someone has to step up and fill that role. Allen Lazard did just that Sunday night.

Lazard put together a career night with his 146 receiving yards as well as a career long reception of 72 yards.

With Adams out, Lazard filled the number one receiver role and did so in a big way. Lazard put together what had to be his best game as a pro. Lazard got things going with his 72-yard reception, falling just short of the goal line. It did not matter as Rodgers came back to him a few plays later for the score.

There was a lot of concern about the Packers not drafting a receiver this past offseason. I still feel they should have. But for now, Lazard and LaFleur’s offense are making it a moot point.

A rookie would not be as far along as Lazard is now in the offense and this scheme is creating separation and chances for big plays.

That’s not to say Lazard isn’t talented. He may not have 4.3 40-yard dash speed but his build up speed has been more than enough as he continues to rack up big gains. Lazard had a quiet training camp with Marquez Valdes-Scantling getting most of the love, but he is making a lot of noise now.

The best may still be yet to come for Lazard.
