Packers: Allen Lazard doesn’t practice on Thursday
The Packers were without Allen Lazard at practice on Thursday.
Just as the Green Bay Packers get some good news with Davante Adams returning to practice, Allen Lazard missed practice on Thursday.
According to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky, Lazard wasn’t at practice today and will be on the injury report, which will be released later today. This comes as a surprise as there was no point during the game last Sunday night where it appeared Lazard had suffered an injury. For that reason, there aren’t many details on the injury as of yet.
Lazard put in a career-best performance against the Saints, which was vital as the Packers were without Adams. On a national stage, Lazard showed why he should’ve been drafted, making six catches for 146 yards and a touchdown. Had he not slipped on one of those receptions, he’d likely have found the end zone twice.
Of course, it’s a concern that Lazard is dealing with an injury, especially as we don’t know how bad it is. Hopefully, it’s just a minor injury and he’ll be able to play on Monday night, but we’ll have to wait to hear an update from head coach Matt LaFleur.
The Packers offense has been incredible in the opening three games of the season, leading the league in points per game with 40.7.
And to make it even more impressive, they’ve achieved this while dealing with some big injuries. The Packers have lost starting guard Lane Taylor for the season, and also had to deal with injuries to Corey Linsley, Elgton Jenkins, and Lucas Patrick along the offensive line at different points. They’ve also missed Adams for a game, as well as tight end Josiah Deguara for two games. Yet despite that, the offense hasn’t missed a beat.
However, after a breakout game for Lazard last night Sunday night and a strong start to the season, let’s hope his injury isn’t too serious. After not drafting a wide receiver, Lazard has gone a long way to proving the Packers right for their decision. They need him this year.
