3 moves Packers can make to replace Allen Lazard at wide receiver
Three moves the Packers could make at wide receiver.
The Green Bay Packers have been hit with injuries at the wide receiver position.
Allen Lazard is expected to miss significant time after having core muscle surgery, with ESPN’s Adam Schefter reporting that he will be “out indefinitely”. It’s awful news for Lazard, who was coming off the performance of his career against the New Orleans Saints and had made an impressive start to the season.
Davante Adams’ status for Week 4 remains uncertain due to a hamstring injury. Equanimeous St. Brown is on injured reserve and it’s unclear when he’ll be able to return. Let’s not forget that the Packers also lost Devin Funchess for the season as he opted out.
Even if Adams is back this week, depth at wide receiver is a concern for the Packers. If St. Brown is able to return following next week’s bye, that’ll certainly help, but for now, the team should consider all options at strengthening the depth at receiver.
It’s certainly not a time to panic. The Packers don’t need the depth they once enjoyed at the position as they have great pass-catching running backs and also like to put multiple tight ends on the field.
That said, GM Brian Gutekunst should consider his options if it looks like Lazard could miss a lot of time. Here are three moves the Packers could make at wide receiver.
