3 reasons why Packers can win without Davante Adams in Week 4
2. Falcons defense is #bad
Dan Quinn might be running the defense, but this is hardly the “Legion of Boom” visiting Lambeau Field on Monday night. The complete opposite, in fact.
Whereas the Packers have the league’s highest-scoring offense after three weeks, the Falcons entered the week allowing a league-worst 36 points a game. Through the air, Atlanta is giving up 350.3 yards per game. Only the Seattle Seahawks are allowing more passing yards. Quinn’s defense has also allowed nine passing touchdowns with just two interceptions this season.
We can’t discuss the Packers injuries at receiver without also mentioning the Falcons’ injuries on defense.
Pro Bowl safety Keanu Neal is out this week, and safety Ricardo Allen is also out. Defensive end Takkarist McKinley will also miss this game. At cornerback, Darqueze Dennard is on injured reserve and A.J. Terrell is on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
The Falcons do have some talented players on defense. Defensive tackle Grady Jarrett is a star; he was a second-team All-Pro and Pro Bowler in 2019. The Packers will need to be prepared.
However, Atlanta’s secondary has struggled this season and that’s far from ideal coming up against Aaron Rodgers.
Losing Adams and Lazard hurts, but there will be opportunities for big plays against this defense.
