1. Jaire Alexander is a star

There’s no debate about this anymore. Jaire Alexander is no longer a “future star” or “one of the best young cornerbacks in the league”. Forget that. Alexander is an elite cornerback. In his third season, the former first-round pick has taken the final step to stardom.

The Packers faced a daunting matchup with Falcons receiver Calvin Ridley on Monday night. Ridley made a red-hot start to the season with three straight 100-yard performances and a total of 349 yards and four touchdowns on 21 catches.

Alexander didn’t just keep Ridley quiet in this game, he didn’t allow a single catch. Ridley had a total of zero receptions on five targets.

Alexander’s stat sheet only shows six tackles, but he put in a dominant performance. He earned Pro Football Focus’ highest defensive grade in the game and is now their No. 1 graded cornerback in the league after four weeks.

Alexander showed in front of a national audience why he’s one of the best cornerbacks in the entire league. This was a tough matchup against a strong offense with excellent receivers. Alexander made life that much easier for the defense by keeping Ridley quiet.

Alexander is on course to be an All-Pro and a candidate for Defensive Player of the Year.
