The Packers have placed Josiah Deguara and Jake Hanson on IR.

Two of the Green Bay Packers‘ 2020 draft class have been placed on injured reserve.

The team announced on Tuesday that tight end Josiah Deguara has been placed on injured reserve, and center Jake Hanson has been placed on injured reserve-practice squad.

Deguara is out for the rest of the season after suffering a torn ACL in the Packers’ Week 4 victory over the Atlanta Falcons.

Deguara was set for an important role on offense this season had it not been for injuries. He missed a couple of games with ankle and shin injuries after impressing in Week 1, and he’ll now miss the remainder of the season.

Hanson was on the Packers’ practice squad. With the free spot on the practice squad, the Packers announced they have signed wide receiver Kalija Lipscomb.

With Deguara on IR, there is a free spot on the 53-man roster. It’s possible one of wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown or inside linebacker Kamal Martin could be activated and take the spot. Both players have been designated to return from injured reserve so could be activated to the 53-man roster any time in the next three weeks.

The Packers are yet to get many contributions from this year’s draft class.

First-round pick Jordan Love has been inactive for every game, while second-rounder AJ Dillon has only played on five percent of the team’s offensive snaps, according to Pro Football Reference. Third-rounder Deguara and sixth-rounder Hanson are now on IR, while fourth-rounder Martin has missed the start of the season on IR.

The draft class isn’t just for year one, of course, and it’s possible the Packers could get key contributions from Martin and Dillon later in the season. Undrafted rookie Krys Barnes has also impressed so far this season and started three games.
