3. Offensive line gets dominated

All season long, we’ve talking about the dominance of the Packers offensive line. No matter who’s been asked to line up, they’ve shut down opposing pass rushes and opened up running lanes. Against the Buccaneers, it all changed against an excellent defensive front.

According to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky, Rodgers was pressured 12 times in the game, and he was sacked four times on those plays. In total, Green Bay’s offensive line allowed five sacks. Without time in the pocket, Rodgers couldn’t get in a rhythm and it led to uncharacteristic mistakes, such as missing a wide-open Marcedes Lewis on a potential game-changing touchdown.

To make matters worse, star left tackle David Bakhtiari left the game with a chest injury. The Packers can’t afford to lose Bakhtiari for long, and it was clear after he left the game just how important he is on the left side of the offensive line.

This was one of those performances for the Packers. We’ve seen this story play out many times before; last season’s loss to the Los Angeles Chargers feels very similar. It’s now important for the Packers to regroup and bounce back next week against the Houston Texans. Clearly, there is some work to be done.
