Every team needs a player like Jamaal Williams. He is the ultimate team player, sacrificing his stats for the better of the team while also doing the dirty work asked of him. When he does get his opportunities, he does not take them for granted and gives all that he can every time.

The Packers knew Tampa was going to hone in on stopping Aaron Jones. In the early going, Jones was used as a decoy more than the weapon and it worked well for the offense.

With Tyler Ervin out, LaFleur used Jones as the motion man with Williams in the backfield by Rodgers. The defense seemed to follow Jones, giving Williams big holes to run through once handed the ball.

It would have been cool to see how that progressed as the game went on if not for the Packers getting blown out.

After David Bakhtiari got hurt, Williams then became the extra person in pass protection and was seldom used in routes.

The Packers have a very strong backfield; they were the reason why the team didn’t miss Davante Adams and Allen Lazard. Tampa has had the best run defense in the NFL two years running. But if not for falling behind so fast, it seemed like the Packers could have done something against the Buccaneers.

The Packers must now regroup and get ready for a Houston Texans team that will be hungry for a win after falling to 1-5.

They must also hope that Bakhtiari’s injury isn’t serious and for a quick return. I’d hate to see how bad this team would suffer without him.
