3. Aaron Rodgers will go off

The big storyline this season is how Aaron Rodgers is having more fun and he is a lot more carefree than past seasons. It’s been working well for him too. He’s returned to MVP form and has been shredding teams through the air and making ridiculous passes that maybe only one or two other guys in the league could do.

But here’s the thing. Just because Rodgers seems to have a new attitude in general, I don’t think that changes his competitiveness. Sure, he may be having a great season because he’s changed mentally, just having fun and enjoying the game.

But I still think there is a bit of a chip on his shoulder from the Packers drafting a QB in the first round. Yes, he handled it extremely well and professionally, but if you don’t think that added some motivation for him this season, you’re crazy.

Rodgers has always been a player that plays at an extremely high level after he is slighted, disrespected or has an incredibly bad game. Well, he just had an incredibly bad game in Tampa. He posted his third-worst quarterback rating in his career last Sunday (35.4).

His worst rating ever in a game was in 2014 when the Packers faced the Buffalo Bills and Rodgers completed 17-of-42 passes for 185 yards and two interceptions. He had a passer rating of 34.3. The game after that, coincidentally at Tampa Bay, Rodgers completed 31-of-40 passes for 318 yards and touchdown, giving him a passer rating of 108.1 in a 20-3 win over the Bucs.

I fully expect Rodgers to come back and shred the Texans’ defense. The running game should be able to produce, and thanks to that, Rodgers will have a much easier time throwing the ball. Not to mention being in a dome with a controlled environment will be more conducive to the deep ball. Rodgers really struggled to complete one in Tampa, where the wind was swirling all over the place.

After last week, it’s hard to imagine this Packer team coming out flat. I would expect a lot of different looks and maybe a few big plays from this offense on Sunday. As for the defense, this will be a good time for them to show that they can do their part.
