Packers: Five players key to victory in Week 7 vs. Texans
By Jesse Fry
1. Elgton Jenkins
David Bakhtiari did not practice to start the week with a chest injury. And while I expect the team to give him all week to get healthy, there’s no telling just how healthy he will actually be.
Head coach Matt LaFleur has always said his best five will play, and that leads me to believe Elgton Jenkins could be the choice to slide out to left tackle should Bakhtiari be unable to go. If he is able to play, I still expect Jenkins to be challenged all game long.
The team in general didn’t have a good showing down in Florida but the offensive line specifically was atrocious and that was even before Bakhtiari left with an injury. Tampa was successful on defense by blitzing the Packers, something that was once a big no-no. With that success will now come teams trying to replicate what they did.
Jenkins and the line can expect to be stressed in every way possible by Romeo Crennel and his defensive staff.
Houston doesn’t have the same personnel Tampa does but they do have J.J. Watt who can single-handedly destroy any offensive game plan. The extra attention paid to Watt could free up one-on-one match ups for others on the Texans.
Coming off the performance they had a week ago, whoever the five are up front need to pick up their game more than a notch.
