Packers: Top three performances from Week 8 loss to Vikings
By Jesse Fry
1. Davante Adams
Stat line: 7 catches, 53 yards, 3 TDs
Like Dalvin Cook for the Vikings, Davante Adams provided nearly all the scoring for the Green Bay Packers. If not for Jamaal Williams’ two-point conversion, the only other player to have put points on the board would have been Mason Crosby with his two point-after attempts.
After having three straight 100-yard games against the Vikings, Adams was primed for a big game and he did not disappoint. He wasn’t able to keep his streak of 100-yard games going but he was able to get the three scores.
His most impressive catch was his last touchdown. After being held at the goal line by a Vikings defender, Adams had Josh Metellus draped all over him when the pass from Aaron Rodgers dropped right into his arms.
Even with all the attention paid to him, Adams is still putting up great numbers for the Packers. You can’t help but wonder how much more he could be if there was one more legitimate threat opposite him.
Adams’ three touchdowns now give him seven on the year. He’s well on his way to a fourth season with double-digit touchdown catches.
The Packers will be getting Allen Lazard back soon, possibly as early as Thursday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers. That should help take some of the attention away from Adams, though it doesn’t seem to matter much as Adams seems to find ways to get open regardless of the coverage against him.
