Packers 2020 trade deadline: Potential targets, areas of need, when is it?
Potential trade targets for Packers
Will Fuller
If the Packers want to strengthen the offense, there might not be a better option than trading for Will Fuller, who could be the game-changing addition the Packers desperately need. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Packers could “ramp up” interest in Fuller before the deadline.
Fuller would be a great addition to Matt LaFleur’s offense. If there’s a trade to be made at receiver, this should be it.
Dalvin Tomlinson
The New York Giants are 1-6 ahead of their game on Monday night. Defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson is in the final year of his contract. Whether New York would be willing to trade him remains to be seen, but there’s no doubt Tomlinson would help Mike Pettine’s defense.
Tomlinson is strong against the run and has five tackles for loss this season. With Tomlinson and Kenny Clark up front, the Packers defense could take a big step forward.
Quinnen Williams
Perhaps unlikely, but Gutekunst should give the New York Jets a call about Quinnen Williams. Williams was selected third overall only a year ago, but would the Jets be willing to move on as they enter a rebuild? Again, the answer would most likely be no, but the Packers should ask the question.
Williams has 30 tackles, seven tackles for loss, and three sacks this season. All three are better than he achieved in his entire rookie year.
A potential deal would also depend on the seriousness of Williams’ hamstring injury.
David Njoku
Personally, I wouldn’t make this move. However, it makes this list as, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the Packers inquired about Njoku, although he also noted that they “seem more intent with Texans WRs”.
The Packers have got some production from Robert Tonyan and Jace Sternberger in recent games, but it’s possible they look to add another pass catcher before the deadline. Njoku could help the offense.
