Packers: Three duds from Week 8 loss against Vikings
By Cody Young
Savage needs to play at a more consistent level for the Packers
Dud #3: Darnell Savage
Darnell Savage is still a very young player, only in his second year in the NFL. The Packers traded up to get him in last year’s draft and he has shown some flashes but for the most part, his career has been underwhelming.
Savage returned to the lineup after missing last week’s game and he pretty much was nonexistent. He registered four total tackles and that was about it. Week after week it seems like Darnell Savage’s name is never brought up during the game because it seems like he’s not making much of an impact.
The Packers drafted Savage hoping that he would be the ball-hawking safety he was in college and it looks like his skills have not transferred over to the pros just yet. By no means am I giving up on his career, I still think Savage can be a very good safety for the Green Bay Packers.
Savage just has to play at a more consistent level. Something that is concerning is that he has great players around him and he still has been struggling thus far. The Packers secondary is probably the best part of the defense and hopefully Savage can put it all together to be a big part of it.
