Packers: 5 best players over the first half of 2020 season
Five best players for the Packers in the first eight games.
The Green Bay Packers are off to a fast start, winning six of their first eight games. They’ve dealt with some injuries to key players but continue to win games and put up a ton of points.
There are many players key to the Packers’ success in the first half of the season and it’s tough to narrow it down to the top five. But that’s what I’m going to attempt to do today.
There are concerns with the run defense and there are areas this team needs to improve in the second half of the season, but after eight games, the Packers are one of the best teams in the NFL.
These five players have been key to the team’s success this year. But before that, some honorable mentions go to Corey Linsley, Lucas Patrick, Aaron Jones, and Mason Crosby.
5. Billy Turner
After last season, it looked as if the Packers had made a mistake by giving Billy Turner a big contract. I, along with many other Packers fans, owe Turner an apology.
Turner has been outstanding this season and his versatility makes him so valuable to Green Bay’s offense. Turner is currently ranked second among all tackles in ESPN’s pass block win rate this season.
Due to injury, Matt LaFleur has needed to move the offensive linemen around to fill in at different spots. That’s another reason why Turner is so important to this team. He has been a great replacement for Bryan Bulaga at right tackle but can play across the line, as we’ve seen with Turner covering for David Bakhtiari on the left side.
