Packers: Five players key to victory in Week 10 vs. Jaguars
By Jesse Fry
3. Darnell Savage
Another player that can help in an area the Packers have been lacking game-changing defensive plays is Darnell Savage.
Savage has been shutout in the turnover column although he came close last week against the 49ers.
Savage’s speed and ball ability is what made him a first-round pick last year. Those same attributes could make him a difference-maker in the NFL.
Although he hasn’t shown that much yet, the ability is there. Safety is a tough position in the NFL and Mike Pettine asks a lot of his safeties. Packers fans know that there must be patience as even former All-Pro Nick Collins took some time to develop.
But with a shorthanded secondary, the Packers will be in need of a couple players stepping up.
My guess is Savage puts his close call to a turnover last week into good use and he plays with a little more confidence and he gets his first of 2020 this week.
If King and Alexander are out, the secondary will be missing a lot of speed and there will need to be more help in the backend. Savage has plenty of speed to burn and should be the one helping out over the top.
