Packers: Three winners from Week 10 win against Jaguars
By Cody Young
Za’Darius Smith was the highlight of a dreadful Packers defense
Winner #3: Za’Darius Smith
Za’Darius Smith was without a doubt the best player on the Packers defense on Sunday against the Jaguars. He seemed to be the only one making plays at a consistent clip throughout the entire game, which has pretty much been the case all season with Smith.
Za’Darius got another sack in this game, which brings his total to eight this season, while also getting two QB hits. Green Bay hasn’t been able to get pressure consistently this whole season and Sunday was no different. You can put a lot of the blame on Mike Pettine but at some point, the players still need to execute, and for whatever reason, that has not been happening.
Smith himself has seen his pressures go way down compared to last year but he has made the most of his opportunities to hit the QB this year. Green Bay needs to address the defense if they have any hopes of competing this year.
As good as Smith has been in some games, he’s completely disappeared in some others. He seems to be getting his pressures in bunches recently and while he hasn’t missed any games yet, he has been banged up a few different times in 2020.
Hopefully, Za’Darius can light it up down the stretch and possibly open up things for some others on a defensive line that has been downright underwhelming.
