4. Tavon Austin

It isn’t fair to expect a lot out of Tavon Austin. He hasn’t played a down yet this season and has only been with the team for two weeks. This isn’t saying I think he’s going to have a big game, this is because I just want to see him on the field.

Tyler Ervin is on injured reserve and there is no legit threat in the return game without him. Austin should know enough by now to at least help out there.

In the same vein as the coverage unit, the return game also needs to pick it up. This is where he can help out the most.

I would also expect for Austin to see a handful of plays with the offense. He is a veteran and has played in a similar system before. Even if he just runs across the field to threaten the jet sweep, the defense will have to respect what he brings into the game.

That will open up the playbook for Rodgers and Matt LaFleur even for only a few plays.

It wouldn’t make sense to give opposing teams too much film to go off of, but letting Austin get a feel for the game and the offense will go a long way moving forward.
