Packers: Darnell Savage is active vs. Lions in Week 14
Darnell Savage is active for the Packers in Week 14.
There’s good news for the Green Bay Packers defense.
Second-year safety Darnell Savage — added to the injury report on Friday with a groin injury — is active for Sunday’s game with the Detroit Lions.
Savage has played great football in recent weeks, making three interceptions in the past two games.
It’s always a concern when you see a player added to the injury report late in the week, but Savage’s injury isn’t serious enough to keep him out of the game.
Wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown is also ready to go and active this week.
Tight end Jace Sternberger will miss this game due to a concussion. Quarterback Jordan Love, cornerback Ka’dar Hollman, linebacker Jonathan Garvin, guard Simon Stepaniak, and wide receiver Malik Taylor are all inactive this afternoon.
Rookie running back D’Andre Swift will be available for the Lions. He returns to the lineup after missing the past few games.
The Lions will be without their number one wide receiver, however. Kenny Golladay is inactive, as well as cornerback Jeff Okudah, quarterback David Blough, running back Jonathan Williams, safety C.J. Moore, offensive lineman Tyrell Crosby, and defensive lineman Frank Herron.
The Packers could win the NFC North today with a win. They’ll need the Minnesota Vikings to lose to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That game is currently in the third quarter. At the time of writing, the Bucs have a 23-14 lead. If they can close out the victory, the division title would be the Packers’ with one more victory this week at Ford Field.
Swift returning will help the Lions offense. The Packers run defense will need to be ready for the challenge. The Packers offense will be expected to put up a lot of points against a struggling Lions defense, but these games are never easy.
