3 takeaways from Packers’ NFC North-clinching win vs. Lions
1. Davante Adams makes history
What else can we say about Davante Adams without sounding like a broken record? All Adams does is get wide open and make a ton of catches.
He made some history on Sunday, too. After his incredible 56-yard catch-and-run for a touchdown, Adams set a new franchise record for consecutive games with a touchdown catch. His tally is now up to eight. You read that right. Adams has caught at least one touchdown in his past eight games.
In the 11 games Adams has played this season, he has caught 91 passes for 1,144 yards and 14 touchdowns. He’s already set a new career-high for touchdown catches in a season and is well on his way to setting a new best for receiving yards.
Adams and Aaron Rodgers are both having All-Pro seasons. They’re on the same page. That’s a worrying combination for any defense the Packers face.
Week after week, defenses know the ball is going to come Adams’ way again and again. But they can’t do anything about it.
The way he’s playing, Adams could break some more single-season franchise records in the final three games. According to The Football Database, he’s four touchdown catches away from tying Sterling Sharpe’s record. Adams needs 125 yards per game to tie Jordy Nelson’s single-season record for receiving yards.
Adams is currently on pace to set a new franchise record for receptions in a single season.
And don’t forget, he missed two games with injury.
