Stat line: 6 catches, 85 yards, 1 TD

Marquez Valdes-Scantling‘s season has been an up-and-down rollercoaster ride. Catching big passes for touchdowns while also dropping more than his share of passes.

Sunday was definitely a high. MVS caught six passes without a drop and added his fifth touchdown of the season.

MVS’ touchdown in the second quarter was a thing of beauty. Rodgers took a three-step drop then fired back-shoulder to MVS, who made the tough contested catch, holding on strong as he went to the ground.

With only 31 catches, it would be hard to say he is having a great season but when you look at his 19.5 average per catch, you can see how he makes a difference.

Valdes-Scantling has the height, weight, and speed you look for in a receiver. The only thing that has been lacking is consistency. He looked much more confident in his abilities in this game and didn’t have to get the deep bomb to make his impact.

It was great seeing him get open on the short and intermediate routes, showing teams they have to respect him as more than just a deep threat.

His 603 yards receiving is a new career-high and he’s only seven more catches shy of new a high for receptions. If he can improve that consistency, he should easily have the best year of his young career.
