The Packers shouldn’t be without Jamaal Williams for long.

Jamaal Williams only had one carry and two catches before having to leave the Green Bay Packers‘ win over the Carolina Panthers due to injury.

An important part of the Packers’ offense, the fact he was unable to return to the game was a concern.

However, it doesn’t appear Williams should miss much time. According to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Williams has a thigh injury which “isn’t serious”. Silverstein notes that his status is uncertain for next week’s game against the Tennessee Titans.

Hopefully Williams won’t miss much time, if any, but the fact his injury isn’t serious is good news and should mean he’s ready to go by the time the playoffs begin.

The Packers had no trouble running the football in Saturday’s night win. As a team, they averaged 7.2 yards per carry. Aaron Jones carried 20 times for 145 yards and a touchdown. Rookie AJ Dillon only had one carry but it was an impressive one as he picked up 18 yards.

Dillon is being eased back into action after returning from the reserve/COVID-19 list. I’d love to see him get more game time in the postseason.

Few teams have the running back depth the Packers have. The trio of Aaron Jones, Jamaal Williams, and AJ Dillon will be important especially when the playoffs begin. At least one game will be played at Lambeau Field in January. In the cold weather, being able to run the ball is important.

Williams is a great complement to Jones and he will be an important part of the Packers offense throughout the playoffs. The good news is his thigh injury isn’t serious. Hopefully, that means he’ll be able to make his return next Sunday when the Packers welcome the Titans to Lambeau Field.
