Packers: Five players key to victory in Week 16 vs. Titans
By Jesse Fry
3. Kamal Martin
Krys Barnes has been a pleasant surprise for the defense. He has handled the play-calling on defense the last two weeks and has made his presence felt.
Now he will need a running mate to emerge. Kamal Martin has shown he can be that guy. Martin is big, fast and capable of exploding through the line, making plays on the other side of the line of scrimmage.
Mike Pettine will need to use two guys on the inside more in this game to keep Henry in check. Christian Kirksey hasn’t been terrible but Barnes and Martin are the better pair.
Barnes and Martin give the Packers something to get excited about on defense. The team has talented players at each level of defense but they have had a weakness on the inside. That looks to finally be changing with this combination.
Martin was a fifth-round draft pick this year with Barnes joining the team as an undrafted free agent. These two could be a solid foundation for years to come.
Sunday night will be the toughest test they have faced yet and a good primer for what they will face in the playoffs. Henry won’t be fun to take head on, but this rookie will look to make his mark against the big back Sunday night.
