Green Bay Packers: It’s time to take care of business
By Parker Moes
It’s time for the Packers to take care of business.
Week 16 will be possibly the toughest game of the season for the Green Bay Packers as the 10-4 Tennessee Titans will come to snowy Lambeau Field trying to upset them and put a damper on their top-seed postseason aspirations.
Let’s take a look at why this may not happen.
The Packers’ defense has improved
The Packers’ defense as a whole has shown improvement in both the red zone as well as containing the run. Last weekend against Carolina, they forced two red-zone turnovers, which proved to be crucial game-changing plays in the end.
If the defense can continue to play at a high level once again and capitalize on their opponent’s mistakes, it can go a long way in determining just how deep of a postseason run they can make.
Aaron Rodgers is looking to continue his stellar season
Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers certainly isn’t going to let a little snowfall in late December stop himself from continuing his already stellar MVP-like season. In fact, throughout December/January in his career, he’s thrived in the cold at Lambeau.
He’s completed 64 percent of his passes for 13,350 yards, 98 touchdowns, just 25 interceptions, and a passer rating of 98.4. Rodgers knows what it takes to win at home — especially in the colder months (38-15 combined record in December/January).
The Packers just need to focus on winning
As it stands now, the Packers have a pretty firm grasp on the top seed in the NFC. Winning out would secure it outright. Now, losing against Tennessee would mean just winning in Week 17 against Chicago. Obviously, the best bet would be just to win out.
Simply put: Take care of business and the NFC will run through Lambeau Field — something that hasn’t been done in Rodgers’ 16-year NFL career. If it does happen, the rest of the playoff field in the NFC better be ready. The Pack is coming; and winter is coming with it.
