Packers: Five standout performances from Week 16 win vs. Titans
By Jesse Fry
2. Davante Adams
Stat line: 11 catches, 142 yards, 3 TDs
A week after having a down game by his standards, Davante Adams showed exactly why he is being considered the best wide receiver in the game right now.
Adams caught 11 of 12 targets and added three touchdowns, giving him 17 in his amazing season.
Unlike the Panthers, the Titans allowed their cornerbacks to take on Adams one-on-one to horrible results. Adams smoked Malcom Butler and Adoree’ Jackson all night long.
The snow couldn’t even slow down Adams. His footwork was as good as ever, keeping the Titans’ defensive backs on skates.
Adams is now within range of setting career-highs in every category and there’s no reason to believe he won’t reach them.
Adams needs only two more catches and 58 more yards to surpass his previous highs of 111 receptions and 1,386 yards. He already has a new career-high in touchdowns with 17, and he has one more chance to add on to that regular season total. Putting up those numbers is good in its own right, add in the fact that he did it while missing two-and-a-half games makes it amazing.
He’s already been voted into the Pro Bowl, now it would seem All-Pro honors are almost a foregone conclusion. This has to be the most dominant performance by a wide receiver we have seen in Green Bay in recent memory.
