Divisional round

(1) Packers vs. (4) Washington Football Team

The Packers will get their first taste of the playoffs when they host the Washington Football Team at Lambeau Field in the divisional round. The Football Team will be riding high coming to town after knocking Tom Brady and the Bucs out of the playoffs, but they have to come to the Frozen Tundra.

Alex Smith is a great story this year, but I’m not sure he has enough anymore to beat this Green Bay defense. The Packers defense has been really good lately. The secondary, led by Pro Bowler Jaire Alexander, has been on fire, shutting down opposing quarterbacks. The run defense has also been vastly improved and adding Damon “Snacks” Harrison definitely doesn’t hurt.

The Washington Football Team with the feel-good stories of Ron Rivera and Alex Smith are awesome, but I think their magic runs out at Lambeau Field in the divisional round.

Green Bay moves on and hosts their first NFC Championship Game in the Aaron Rodgers era.

Winner: Packers

(2) Saints vs. (3) Seahawks

The game that decides who will travel to Green Bay for the NFC Championship Game includes a pair of familiar teams for the Packers. If both of these teams could lose, that would be perfect, but unfortunately one of these teams has to win.

The Seahawks have ground their way to a 12-4 record somehow in 2020. As usual, they win a ton of close games, even over teams that they should be blowing out. They finished the season with a +88 point differential. The Packers (+140) and the Saints (+145) both had arguably harder schedules and fared better in point differential.

The Saints are led by a dominant defense. This defense should be able to slow Russell Wilson and his great receiving duo down enough to allow the Saints to win. The Seahawks defense is improved, but they will still have to worry about Kamara, Michael Thomas, and yes, even the grossly overpaid backup quarterback/swiss army knife, Taysom Hill.

This will likely be a much more entertaining game than the Packers-Football Team game. Playoff games involving the Seahawks usually involve quite a bit of drama, but at the end of the day, I think the Saints get by and will travel to Lambeau to take on the Packers for a chance to go to the Super Bowl.

Winner: Saints
