Packers: Three important players vs. Rams in divisional round
Marquez Valdes-Scantling
Marquez Valdes-Scantling has had his ups and downs this season. His season has been full of disappointing plays such as the overtime fumble against the Colts in Week 11, and the indisputable touchdown drop against the Bears in Week 17 that would’ve put the Packers up by three scores.
Although his faults, this season has also been quite relieving to see him progress as a route-runner and playmaker. He is a deep-ball threat using his 4.3 speed and 6-foot-4 frame. He had two touchdown catches eclipsing 70 yards and is always a menace for opposing secondaries.
So why is MVS a key player in the divisional round matchup?
SPEED. Straight SPEED.
Rams superstar CB Jalen Ramsey will be shadowing Davante Adams for the majority of the game. Adams will produce as per usual but Ramsey will be a tough assignment to conquer. MVS will be able to open the field for Adams by pulling the CB and the help side safety further downfield. His speed is a special asset that can act as a compelling decoy.
Winning playoff games is not easy.
Dinking and dunking down the field will not help propel teams to wins. What separates good teams from bad teams? BIG PLAYS. Explosive plays are engraved in winning material. MVS’ trademark is the go route which gives Aaron Rodgers a downfield option for a heave.
Not only does MVS open the field for his teammates, but he also has the ability to generate big plays which is a key to success for a Packers victory.
