Five breakout Packers players from the 2020 season
By Cody Young
These players were huge for the Packers’ success in 2020.
The Green Bay Packers finished off another great season sitting at 13-3 and receiving a first-round bye for the second year in a row. A win on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams would mean that for the first time in Aaron Rodgers’ career, they would finally host an NFC Championship Game.
Of course, they still have to get through the Rams first. Up to this point, the Packers have had themselves a fantastic 2020 season. Rodgers returned to his MVP form, Davante Adams solidified himself as a top-tier receiver and Za’Darius Smith continues to show why he is one of the best pass-rushers in the entire NFL.
All of the players I have just listed are already proven commodities who have a certain expectation that they met. However, 2020 brought out the best in quite a few different players on both sides of the ball. Starting off with a player who built on an incredibly impressive rookie season.
Elgton Jenkins may be a multiple-time All-Pro selection for the Packers
Breakout #5: Elgton Jenkins
Elgton Jenkins was selected in the second round of the 2019 draft for the Green Bay Packers and was a proven player right off of the bat. Enough good things can’t be said about Jenkins, his versatility to not only play several positions across the O-line but play them at a high level is remarkable.
The Packers have one of the best offensive lines in the league but Jenkins is absolutely an anchor on the line to go along with superstar LT David Bakhtiari. Of course, Jenkins will certainly be even more relied upon with the injury to their LT but Jenkins should be more than ready for the task at hand.
