Packers: Five players key to victory in NFC Championship Game
By Jesse Fry
3. Marquez Valdes-Scantling
Davante Adams is likely to see as much double coverage as he has seen all season. Tampa is a little banged up in the secondary with their top three cornerbacks all leaving the game for some time last week versus the Saints.
Carlton Davis and Jamel Dean aren’t listed on the injury report but hamstring and leg injuries can be tricky and rear their head in cold games.
This just feels like a game where Marquez Valdes-Scantling has one of his better performances. Rodgers just missed him for a big gain in the last game against the Bucs and overthrew him in the last one.
With the Bucs focusing on the run game and Adams, it just seems like there will be a chance or two for MVS to catch a deep pass.
His season has been up and down, much like his career. A big catch here, a few drops there. Those drops will be easily forgotten should he take a 60-yarder to the house in the NFC Championship Game.
Of course, the threat of drops is there and very real when dealing with MVS. I have no doubt Rodgers and head coach Matt LaFleur will have him focused and ready to go.
The rest will be up to him.
